The Migrant Student Locator database, located in San Francisco, CA, was established by WestEd to assist state migrant programs to obtain information on migrant students that have moved into their states. The database is the result of the legislative requirement for a record transfer system and the expressed desire of the California Migrant Education/International Office to make its student locator available to other states. Participation is voluntary and any state may join by sending extracts containing the required record information in an accepted format to the Migrant Student Locator. For further details, please see the Signup Page.

The validity of the data is the responsibility of the individual State Educational Agencies (SEA). Any omissions or errors should be reported to the Migrant Student Locator Office. All states on the current database have received or will receive a user ID and a password from the Migrant Locator Office. If your state is included in the database and you have not yet received your password, please contact the Migrant Student Locator Office.

With the password, the user is able to conduct searches directly to the database. The database provides sufficient information to determine if the child that is the object of a search has been identified in a participating state. The SEAs are responsible for updating the information they place on the Migrant Student Locator. For further details, please see the Signup Page.
